Kolkata, Murshidabad, Malda, Shantiniketan, & Bishnupur Tour

Kolkata, Murshidabad, Malda, Shantiniketan, & Bishnupur Tour Package

The Holy Ganges is not just a river but a mother, a goddess, a tradition, a culture and much more. In Bengal the river is also witness to the rise and fall of empires and towns and ends her journey in the Bay of Bengal. ITS offers East by Ganges- Bengal tour packages starting from the city of joy, Kolkata, which once happened to be the second most important city of the British Empire after London. The city still oozes the Raj day charms, but never loses her cerebral identity. And this city is a convenient gateway to more places mingled with heritage

The colonial influences evident in the little towns of Chandernagore, Chinsurah, Serampore and Bandel. – terra cotta temple art at Bishnupur, Nawabi reminiscences at Murshidabad or Sultaniyat carcasses at Maldah – each are as good as others for a discerning traveller. For miles and miles, the lofty treetops shape an unbroken cover, while closer to the ground, works of high and ebb-tide marked at the soil and tree trunks and the many varieties of the natural mangrove wooded area. We invite our clients to find out the individual excursions of Sundarbans.

Malda is a base for visiting Gaur and Pandua. Gaur, capital to three dynasties of ancient Bengal – the Buddhist Palas, the Hindu Senas and the Muslim Nawabs – has seen three distinct eras of glory. Pandua, once the alternate seat of power to Gaur, has the third largest concentration of Muslim monuments in Bengal. Shantiniketan was earlier called Bhubandanga (named after Bhuban Dakat, a local dacoit), and was owned by the Tagore family. In 1862, Maharishi Devendranath Tagore, the poet’s father, while on a boat journey to Raipur, came across a landscape with red soil and lush green paddy fields. The history of Bishnupur can be traced back to 694 AD, when King Raghunath I founded the Malla dynasty. However it was much later in 994 AD that the place was named Bishnupur.
