Purulia Tour Itinerary
Transfer from Kolkata to Ajodhya Hills (330 kms / 7 hrs). Ajodhya Hill and Forest Reserve area is located in the Purulia district of West Bengal. A part of the Dalma Hill Range, the area boasts of a forest cover that is deciduous in nature and stretches 10,000 sq kms. One that is home to several exotic species of wildlife and birds. September to March being the perfect season to travel to witness clear blue skies coupled with a nip in the air. For monsoon lovers the place is no less than a spectacle with thick cloud cover floating over the hills making it look ethereal. Check-in into your homestay / resort. Evening enjoy at leisure and soak in the new atmosphere you are in. Overnight at Upper Ajodhya.
Visit Ajodhya Hills. The Ajodhya Hills are the perfect base for beginners to practice rock climbing. Climb to the highest peak of the Ajodhya Hills, the Gorgaburu Range to get some of the spectacular views of the region. Visit two of the most widely recognized falls of these region, the Bamni and the Turga Falls. A visual treat to the eyes the pictures of these waterfalls look like work of art. The roaring noise of these waterfalls need to be heard in presence with the backdrop that is a sure shot crowd puller. Visiting these waterfalls requires one to trek to reach the base but is worth the effort. Visit the Turga Dam if time permits. Further visit the Tarpania Lake also known locally as the Marble Lake. Previously being an open pit mine, the Tarpania Lake offers a surreal ambience with mountains cascading over the lake on all sides. Mayur Hill offers glorious views of the entire range of the Ajodhya Hills and is a must visit spot. Pakhi Pahar or the Murraburu Hill is the best spot for bird watching. The thickly forested area is home to peacocks and several form of wildlife from leopards, deer to wild boars. Lohoria Shiva Temple is located at a distance of 15 kms from Pakhi Pahar. Further visit the Khairabera Dam that is located approximately 26 kms from Pakhi Pahar. An irrigation dam that is nestled amidst the forest and the hills of Baghmundi. The water body stretches to the foothills of two of the ranges of the Ajodhya Hills – The Chemto and Barra Hills. The place makes for a scenic view point. Later return back to resort / homestay. Overnight at Upper Ajodhya.
Morning check out of resort / homestay at Upper Ajodhya and transfer to Mathaburu (12 kms / 30 mins). Mathaburu is one of the peaks of the Ajodhya Hill Range and is a major attraction for tourists. The Mathaburu Hills also is famed for the Matha Forest that is unique owing to the exquisite beauty this place boasts of. A hit with camping afficionados, do make it a point to visit the Matha Forest as it is an experience of a lifetime. Later return back to resort / homestay. Evening at leisure. Overnight at Mathaburu.
Morning after breakfast transfer back to Kolkata. Tour Ends.
