Day 01: Kolkata to Jhargram

Transfer from Kolkata to Jhargram (175 kms / 4 hrs).  Jhargram is the headquarters of the Jhargram district located in the Indian state of West Bengal. Check-in into your homestay / resort. Later proceed for sightseeing. Visit Jhargram Palace. The palace belongs to the Malla Deb royal clan and the history of the palace dates back to the conquests by the Mughals that saw the local rulers suffer huge defeat under Sarveshwar Singh. The one who carried the titular surname of “Malla Deb” and thus paved way for the Rajput descendants to carry on their legacy. Thus ruling over from the Jhargram palace since the 16th century. Further visit the Sabitri Temple which is a 350-year-old temple and is the one revered and worshipped by the Malla Deb royal family. Goddess Durga is worshipped in the form of Sabitri Devi and is considered the ancestral deity of the Malla Deb dynasty. A stone edifice is regarded as an embodiment of the goddess. Kanak Durga Temple is located 14kms from the main town of Jhargram and is considered to be a century old temple situated at the banks of the river Dulung. The temple houses the ancestral deity of the royal family of Jamboni. Visit Kendua en-route to Kanak Durga Temple. Kendua is a birding hotspot that is located at a distance of 9kms from Jhargram. The place is thronged by multiple species of migratory birds that includes the likes of the Great, Intermediate and Little Egrets to Golden and Black-Hooded Orioles. Later visit one of the most famous temples of Jhargram – the “Umapati Shiv Temple” if time permits. Return back to homestay / resort. Overnight at Jhargram.


Day 02: Full Day Local Sightseeing at Jhargram Tourism

Visit the Chikligarh Sacred Grove that is a recognized biodiversity heritage site in Jhargram. A place that is dedicated to the preservation of biodiversity. The place is situated at a distance of 15 kms from Jhargram tourism and is a protected forested area that spans across 60 acres of land. The sacred grove is accredited to conserving 26 species of animals. Visit the Chikligarh Raj Bari or Palace that has stood the test of time and is an ancient marvel built across two floors in grey and black stone finish. The area is questionably still as if the remains of the palace has been obliterated. Jagannath Dhabaldeb built the Chikligarh Palace as a private fortress to safeguard themselves from the frequent exploits by the Maratha dacoits called the “Borgis” on the other side of the Dulung river. The Dulung river being one of the tributaries of the Subarnarekha. Further visit the Medicinal Plants Garden and later the Junglemahal Zoological Park. The Junglemahal Zoological Park was established in the year 1980 as a deer park which further was categorized as a Zoo in 2005. The Park is spread over a vast stretch of 21.54 hectares of land. Later return back to homestay / resort. Overnight at Jhargram.


Day 03: Day trip to Jhiilimili via Sutan Forest

Proceed to Jhilimili. Baro Mile Forest is the term given to Jhilimili and Sutan Forest. The forest boasts of several viewpoints that bears testimony to the amazing landscape. The forested canopy area boasts of Saal, Mohua and Shimul trees. Also visit the Sutan Lake that lies within a radius of 7kms at Jhilimili. The forest is interconnected with the Dalma forest range and is regarded to be the Southern Dooars for its lush greens and unspoilt beauty. Jhilimili offers a perfect canvas to capture a moment in time for the avid photographers. Check in at resort at Jhilimili. Overnight at Jhilimili


Day 04: Departure / Transfer

Morning after breakfast transfer back to Kolkata. Tour Ends.
