To protect this piece of history, to restore and renovate the ‘Himalayan’, lured by the fact that Kalimpong has still stood untouched by the concrete commercialization that has corrupted nearby Darjeeling's pristine beauty. While the hotel captures the appearances and feeling of an old colonial homestead, the outcome is far from simple reconstruction, renovation or reproduction.
